Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in the Board of Education Office in Augusta, Illinois. Mark Hitz, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

On a motion by Member Bunnell and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the March 27, 2024 regular meeting and closed session.

Kimberly Harrison presented the Board Excellence Awards: April Sun of the Month, Angie Schwagmeyer Scholarship Recipient, Herald-Whig Basketball 2nd Team, District 16 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association 7th Grade Coach of the Year Bryan Schullian, FBLA Illinois State Leadership Conference, FBLA Western Area Conference Section President, FBLA State Vice-President, Head Coach Matt Long selected Herald-Whig Coach of the Year, IESA Solo & Ensemble Ratings, IHSA Solo & Ensemble Ratings, Illinois State Academy of Science Annual Meeting Competition, National Honor Society officers.

On a motion by Member Bunnell and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education approved the fiscal year 2023 Annual Financial Report.

Superintendent Lantz presented the updated bus fleet.

Superintendent Lantz went over the end of year dates.

Superintendent Lantz presented the tuition rate which is $10,451.20.

Superintendent Lantz went over the open positions for 2024-2025 school year.

Superintendent Lantz presented the new school laws for 2024.

Superintendent Lantz gave Board Policy Update with the (1st reading) of: 2:40 Board Member Qualifications, 2:60 Board Member Removal from Office, 2:140 Communications To and From the Board, 2:260 Uniform Grievance Procedure, 2:265 Title IX Grievance Procedure, 2:270 Discrimination and Harassment on the Basis of Race, Color, and National Origin Prohibited, 4:20, Fund Balances, 4:165 Awareness and Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and Grooming Behaviors, 4:190 Targeted School Violence Prevention Program, 5:10 Equal Employment Opportunity and Minority Recruitment, 5:20 Workplace Harassment Prohibited, 5:100 Staff Development Program, 5:120 Employee Ethics; Code of Professional Conduct; and Conflict of Interest, 5:300 Schedules and Employment Year, 6:60 Curriculum Content, 6:185 Remote Educational Program, 7:10 Equal Educational Opportunities, 7:20 Harassment of Students Prohibited, 7:180 Prevention of and Response to Bullying, Intimidation, and Harassment, 7:185 Teen Dating Violence Prohibited.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Stevens, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 6:53 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity; collective negotiating matters between the school board and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees; student disciplinary cases.
