Payson Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education met Dec. 14.

CALL TO ORDER
Lisa Schwartz called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Nancy Cromie, district secretary, called roll with the following members present: Denise Albsmeyer, Keith Barry, Danelle Donley, Trista Neisen, Lisa Schwartz, Vinson Sill and Clint Twaddle .
Also present were Donna Veile, Julie Phelan, Don Miller and Nancy Cromie.

PUBLIC
Diane Germann addressed the board regarding the senior trip for this school year. It is tentatively set for some time between April 13-23 and approximately 20 students are interested in going. Mrs. Germann has requested that an administrator attend the trip and the district cover the cost. Bob Venvertloh from Klingner and Associates presented the bids for the weight room. The building committee shared their thoughts.
AD REPORT
Don Miller shared the status of current sports.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Donna Veile talked about the 5 Essentials Survey.
JH SCHOOL IMPOVEMENT PLAN 1003(a) GRANT
Twaddle made a motion to approve the JH School Improvement Plan 1003(a) grant. Neisen seconded the motion. AYE: Sill, Twaddle, Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None
EARLY GRADUATION REQUEST
Barry made a motion to approve an early graduation request. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Twaddle, Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Neisen, Sill and Schwartz NAY: None
WEIGHT ROOM BID
Twaddle made a motion to approve the weight room bid from Waterkotte Construction. Barry seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Neisen, Sill, Twaddle and Schwartz NAY: None
ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL REPORT
Julie Phelan talked about the last School Improvement Day. New staff received training on how to interpret and take the next steps with NWEA MAP reports. The Building Leadership team met to discuss ELA goals for writing. The Quincy Society of Fine Arts issued a grant to have The Budding Artist come in to give art lessons for all K-6th students. 1st-6th grade students are competing in a Merry ChristMATH contest. TRIBES will be participating in Minute To Win It games. Mrs. Germann, Mrs. Barry and Ms. Phelan completed their National Institute for School Leaders training. This opportunity was funded by The Tracy Foundation.
SECONDARY PRINCIPAL REPORT
Greg Buescher submitted a report on current events in the junior high/high school building. Student Council collected over 2000 items for the annual food drive. Winter Ball was held December 10 and the Christmas band/chorus concert is December 14. Seniors completed an interest inventory, discussed career explorations and next steps after high school. The next all school picnic will be December 16.
MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION
Sill made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, and other items appropriate for closed session. Neisen seconded the motion.
