State Representative Kyle Moore has been appointed to the House Labor and Commerce Committee. Moore, a Republican from Quincy, aims to enhance job growth and retention in Illinois through this new role.

“This is first and foremost about improving our jobs climate so we can provide better opportunities for future generations right here in Illinois,” Rep. Moore stated. He emphasized Illinois's potential as a prime location for business start-ups and expansions due to its resources and workforce. “I’m pleased that our district will have a seat at the table as legislation is considered to help make that happen.”

The committee deals with job development, labor guidelines, occupational licenses, and commerce both domestically and internationally.

Moore brings experience as a small business owner and former Mayor of Quincy. During his mayoral tenure, he introduced the “45×30 Plan” to modernize retail incentives in Quincy. As President of the Great River Economic Development Foundation, he collaborated with companies on expansion projects in Western Illinois. In his initial year in the General Assembly, he authored the Reducing Barriers to Start Act aimed at eliminating first-year business fees for new start-ups.

House Minority Leader Tony McCombie appointed Moore due to his local expertise. “Our state faces many challenges, and we must do what we can to help boost our workforce, grow our economy, and reduce the tax burden,” McCombie said. “I chose the Representative because he will be an asset to this committee for the work he has done to stimulate economic growth in Quincy—and it’s about time we experience that type of growth statewide.”

Rep. Moore expressed enthusiasm about applying his economic development experience on the committee: “I am excited to put my experience in economic development to work on the Labor and Commerce Committee to promote better jobs and economic opportunity for everyone in our great state.”
