Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in the Board of Education Office in Augusta, Illinois. Mark Hitz, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the October 23, 2024 regular meeting and closed session.

Special Recognition

Principal Tim Kerr presented the Board Excellence Awards: October Sun of the Month, November Sun of the Month, West Central Conference Volleyball 1st Team, West Central Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team, Illinois Volleyball Coaches Association All-State Academic Team, West Central Conference Volleyball 1st Team, Illinois Volleyball Coaches Association 1A All-State 1st Team, Illinois Volleyball Coaches Association 1A All-State 2nd Team, illprepvb.com Player of the Week, Junior High State Speech – Judge’s Choice Award, 8th Grade Boys Basketball Hancock County Tournament 2nd Place, IHSA 1A High School Varsity Volleyball Regional Champions.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education approved the scheduling of the Truth in Taxation Hearing for Monday, December 16, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.

Informational Items

Superintendent Lantz presented the 2024 Summative Designation with each building receiving a Commendable rating.

Superintendent Lantz reviewed the upcoming 2025 school board election with one 2-year term and four 4-year terms to be filled.

Superintendent Lantz discussed a School Resource Officer.

Superintendent Lantz went over the FY25 Personnel Report from the Regional Office of Education.

Superintendent Lantz reviewed the enrollment numbers in Schuyler and McDonough counties for the County Facilities Sales Tax.

No Administrative reports were given.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 6:53 p.m. for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity, and student disciplinary cases. Roll Call Vote:

Aye: Stevens, Tippey, Bunnell, Henry, Hitz, Holst, Stephens

The Board of Education returned to Open Session at 7:10 p.m.

Action Items

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Educationapproved the early graduation of class of 2025 seniors Mya Bruns, Karlee Alred, Shelby Stout and Logan Bollin contingent upon meeting all graduation requirements by December 31, 2024. Roll Call Vote:

Aye: Tippey, Bunnell, Henry, Hitz, Holst, Stephens, Stevens

Nay: None

Absent: None

Adjournment

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education voted to adjourn the meeting at 7:13 p.m.
