John Wood Community College Curriculum Committee met Oct. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Curriculum meeting convened at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday October 10, 2024. Present were Dr. Randy Greenwell; trustee, Mr. Don Hess; trustee, Dr. Bryan Renfro; president, and Dr. Shelley Barkley; vice president of academic & student affairs and Kristina Johnson; notetaker.

The board evaluated several new course proposals, including those related to the Surgical Technology Program. The board requested further details on the proposed changes and additions and requested these changes be brought back in conjunction with the forthcoming degree changes. As a result, the proposals were not approved at this time. The curriculum committee was assigned the task of bringing the Surgical Technology changes back to the November meeting as a package.

The board reviewed proposed changes to the existing Business Program, specifically updates to the transfer pathways. They found the justification for the changes insufficient and expressed concerns about the course sequencing alignment. As a result, the board requested further clarification on the pathways for the Business Management AA, Marketing AA, and Supply Chain Management programs, leading to the denial of the proposed pathways. The Business department will be instructed to submit revised pathway proposals for the November meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 12:00 p.m.
