City of Quincy City Council met Aug. 26.

PUBLIC COMMENT

PETITIONS

Ward 7 Special Event Application for “Septemberfest” Saturday, September 7th between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 1119 South 7th Street requesting closure of Adams Street, 7th to 8th Streets; 7th Street, Adams Street north to the first private driveway and alley, 7th to 8th Streets Adams to Monroe Streets from 8:00 a.m. through 12:00 a.m. (midnight) on Saturday, September 7th with barricades. The applicant has submitted all required documentation and approval is recommended by the Department of Utilities & Engineering.

Ward 7 Special Event Application for “Liters & Lotus Autism Awareness Car Show” Saturday, August 31st from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. requesting closure of Maine Street, 5th to 8th Streets from 8:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. with barricades. “No Parking” signs are also requested along Maine Street the afternoon of Friday, August 30th. The applicant will notify property and business owners within the event area prior to the event. The applicant has submitted all required documentation and approval is recommended by the Department of Utilities and Engineering.

Ward 7 Special Event Application for “Pride in the Park” Sunday, September 22nd from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Clat Adams Park. The applicant has submitted all required documentation and approval is recommended by the Department of Utilities & Engineering.

PROCLAMATION

Month of September 2024 as “Workforce Development Month”

RESOLUTIONS

Resolution awarding a contract to Thornburgh Abatement, Inc, to complete asbestos abatement at 206 Chestnut Street.

Resolution Authorizing Funding For Adams County Bicentennial Commission. ($30,000 to support the Bicentennial celebrations planned for 2025.)

Resolution Authorizing Funding For Quincy Society Of Fine Arts. ($25,000 from the Economic Growth Fund.)

Engineering Manager, Public Works Director, and Central Services Committee recommending approval of the low bid in the amount of $360,514.00 from Laverdiere Construction of Macomb, IL for the Amtrak Parking Lot Improvement Project.

Engineering Manager, Public Works Director, and Central Services Committee recommending approval of the proposal from Outdoor Power for the purchase of a Polaris Ranger 1000 EPS 4x4 side-by-side utility task vehicle at the cost of $17,399.

Central Services Director, Public Works Director, and Central Services Committee recommending approval of the low bid in the amount of $967,000.00 from Bleigh Construction of Hannibal, MO for the construction of a 140’ by 60’ pre-engineered storage building on the south side of the Central Services lot.

Adoption of an Ordinance entitled:

Ward 3 An Ordinance Of The City Of Quincy, Adams County, Illinois, To Set A Date For A Public Hearing On The Proposed Quincy 54th street Business District.

Second presentation of an Ordinance entitled:

An Ordinance Amending The 2024-2025 Fiscal Year Budget. (Wage increases related to labor contracts and proceeds increase to airport budget.)

First presentation of Ordinances entitled:

Ward 4 An Ordinance Amending title VII (Traffic Code) Of Chapter 82 (Parking Schedules) Of The Municipal Code Of The City Of Quincy Of 2015. (Add “No Parking” on north side of State Street from south 18th Street, west to the alley entrance.)

Ward 4 An Ordinance Amending title VII (Traffic Code) Of Chapter 82 (Parking Schedules) Of The Municipal Code Of The City Of Quincy Of 2015. (Add “No Parking” from the north and south sides of Maine Street beginning at the center of 24th Street and extending east a distance of three hundred ninety (390) feet.)

Ward 4 An Ordinance Amending Title VII (Traffic Code) Of Chapter 82 (Speed Limits) Of The Municipal Code Of The City Of Quincy Of 2015. (Speed limit reduced to 25 miles per hour in the Stone Crest Subdivision, Tuscany Fields Subdivision, and Cadbury Ridge Subdivision.)
