Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 in the Board of Education Office in Augusta, Illinois. Mark Hitz, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

Approval of Minutes

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the June 26, 2024 regular meeting and closed session. Roll Call Vote:

Special Recognition

None

Financial

Superintendent Lantz presented the monthly financial snapshot showing we are 100% into the fiscal year. We have received 107% of our budgeted revenue and have spent 102% of budgeted expenditures.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education authorized the Superintendent to develop a tentative budget for the FY25 school year. Roll Call Vote:

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved the scheduling of a public hearing on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 for the purpose of public information and input into the FY25 school district budget.

Informational Items

Superintendent Lantz reviewed the school board member terms.

Superintendent Lantz reviewed the 2024-2025 Tuition Waivers.

Administrative reports were given with Mr. Gooding reporting on the updates to the elementary handbook. Mr. Kerr also reported on the changes to the jr.sr high handbooks as well as to the incentive programs. Mr. Rigg reported on the plan for bus routes on hard surfaces only.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:10 p.m. for the purpose of collective negotiating matters between the school board and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education approved the following board policies (2nd reading): 2:70 Vacancies on the School Board – Filling Vacancies, 2:125 Board Member Compensation; Expenses, 2:160 Board Attorney, 4:15 Identity Protection, 4:40 Incurring Debt, 4:70 Resource Conservation, 4:80 Accounting and Audits, 4:140 Waiver of Student Fees, 5:130 Responsibilities Concerning Internal Information, 5:180 Temporary Illness or Temporary Incapacity, 5:200 Terms and Conditions of Employment and Dismissal, 5:285 Drug and Alcohol Testing for School Bus and Commercial Vehicle Drivers, 5:310 Compensatory Time-Off, 6:110 Programs for Students At Risk of Academic Failure and/or Dropping Out of School and Graduation Incentives Program, 6:140 Education of Homeless Children, 6:150 Home and Hospital Instruction, 6:230 Library Media Program, 7:170 Vandalism.
