Payson Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met June 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

Lisa Schwartz called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Roll was taken with the following members present: Denise Albsmeyer, Keith Barry, Danelle Donley, Cory Hagerbaumer, Trista Neisen and Lisa Schwartz were present. Russ Board was absent.

Also present was Donna Veile and Barb Speckhart.

CIPA/ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY

There was discussion on CIPA (Children’s Internet Protection Act) but there was no public comment. The District Acceptable Use Policy Implementation Plan will remain the same.

CONSENT AGENDA

Neisen made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Albsmeyer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Donna Veile reminded board members that they are mandated reporters and shared an update on summer work. The Chicago board conference was discussed. There was discussion on adding Western School District to the wrestling coop.

2024-25 MEETING DATES

Barry made a motion to approve the 2024-25 meeting dates. Schwartz seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

CONSOLIDATED DISTRICT PLAN

Neisen made a motion to approve the consolidated district plan. Albsmeyer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

SECOND READING OF 2024-25 STUDENT HANDBOOKS

Barry made a motion to approve the second reading of 2024-25 student handbooks. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

HS HOT LUNCH PROGRAM BID

Donley made a motion to approve Hy-Vee for the HS hot lunch program for 2024-25. Hagerbaumer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

AMENDED FY24 BUDGET

Schwartz made a motion to approve the amended FY24 budget. Neisen seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

SECOND READING OF IASB POLICIES

Neisen made a motion to approve the second reading of IASB policies as listed on the agenda. Barry seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION

Barry made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, and other items appropriate for closed session. Albsmeyer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

Entered into closed session at 7:45 p.m.

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION

Neisen made a motion to return to open session. Barry seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

Returned to open session at 8:15 p.m.

PERSONNEL ADDENDUM

Neisen made a motion to approve the personnel addendum. Barry seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

ADDITIONAL ITEMS

There was additional discussion on the JH/HS lunch program.
