Illinois ranks first in the United States for soybean acreage planted, totaling 10.7 million acres. The state is also second in corn acreage planted with 10.9 million acres.

In June, nine Illinois companies announced that over 1,000 jobs would be affected by mass layoffs. "Illinois has become one of the least business-friendly states in the nation, and we must enact change," said a spokesperson. They added, "We can make Illinois a powerhouse for growth for both large and small businesses if we reduce the burdensome regulations that have been placed on job creators in this state."

Apprenticeships are being highlighted as a viable path to prosperity for many Illinois residents. "Apprenticeships give job-seekers the chance to learn valuable skills while getting paid and not accruing student loan debt," an advocate stated.

Next spring, Illinois schools will switch to administering the ACT exam. "Here’s what you should know about the upcoming switch to the ACT exam next spring in Illinois schools," according to an announcement from The Caucus Blog of the Illinois House Republicans.
