Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 in the Board of Education Office in Augusta, Illinois. Mark Hitz, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Kimberly Harrison presented the Board Excellence Awards: May Co-Sun of the Month, FFA Agriscience Category/Division Winner, Advanced as National Finalist at Illinois FFA State Convention, IJAS State Science Fair Awards, Scholarships, Exceptional and Top Projects, Illinois Agri-Women Changing the Face of Agriculture Agriscience Award, IJAS State Science Fair Illinois Water Environment Association Clean Water Award-Grand Prize Senior Division, IJAS State Science Fair United State Stockholm Junior Water Prize Competition Finalist Advancing to US Stockholm Junior Water Prize Fair, IJAS State Science Fair Illinois Section of American Water Works Association-Exceptional Project in Earth Science, Selected to attend IJAS Luncheon with Besks Hybrids, National Honor Society Inductee, Illinois State Scholar, 6th Grade Girls and Boys Hancock County Relay Champions, IESA 1A Track Sectional, IESA Track State Qualifier, IESA Sectional Tournament Sportsmanship Award, Selected to Participate in the IBCA All Star Basketball Game.

Informational Items

Superintendent Lantz reviewed the tax computation sheets.

Superintendent Lantz discussed the U. S. Cellular Hotspots.

Superintendent Lantz discussed the possibilities for a School Resource Officer.

Administrative reports were given with Mr. Gooding reporting that the Elementary Spring Concert was outstanding, and the kids love our music program. Mr. Kerr reported that the musical was fantastic. It is not just the high school students, but younger students also perform. Mrs. Harrison reported that the Grade 5-12 Spring Concert was amazing. Mrs. Lantz added that we have excellent leaders in our music program.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:09 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity.
