Liberty Community Unit School District #2 Board of Education met June 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Regular Meeting Board of Education Meeting

The Regular meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. Members present: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 present 0 absent. Also present: Kelle Bunch, Michael Smith, Tennille Gimm, Heather Scott, Tara Brown, Mary Betts, Kathy Lease, Lucas Lease, and Jared Schmidt.

Heather Scott and Tara Brown left the meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Tennille Gimm and Jared Schmidt left the meeting at 8:42 p.m.

Motion by Baucom, seconded by Meyer that the board of education open the public hearing on the FY23 Amended Budget. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 ayes 0 nays. M.C.

Motion by Baucom, seconded by Meyer that the board of education close the public hearing on the FY23 Amended Budget. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 ayes O nays. M.C.

Motion by Obert, seconded by Baucom that the board of education approves the Routine Consent Agenda. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 ayes 0 nays. M.C.

Motion by Mowen, seconded by Meyer that the board of education approves the Consent Agenda. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 ayes 0 nays. M.C.

Motion be Mixer, seconded by Mowen that the board of education approves piloting trap shooting for 2023-24; no stipend paid. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 ayes 0 nays. M.C.

No action was taken on the approval of the piloting dance club for 2023-24; no stipend paid. Board decided to revisit this item in August.

Motion by Mixer, seconded by Baucom that the board of education approve paying a stipend of $750 for JH Cheerleading and supporting the program as any other extra-curricular activity. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 ayes 0 nays. M.C.

Motion by Obert, seconded by Mowen that the board of education approve the ICRMT insurance bid of $55,979 (A total of $62,052 with Catastrophic and Earthquake/Flood insurance included) from Forsyth Insurance for 2023-24. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 ayes 0 nays. M.C.

Mary Betts, Kathy Lease and Lucas Lease left the meeting at 10:10 p.m.

Motion by Baucom, seconded by Mowen that the board goes into closed session. Time: 10:13 p.m. Meeting in Closed Session on the following subjects: a) the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as independent contractors, or specific volunteers of the School District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee, a specific individual who serves, as an independent contractor, or a volunteer of the District.; b) collective negotiating matters between the School District and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees; c) the purchase or lease of real property for the use of the District; d) the setting of a price for sale or lease of property owned by the District; e) the sale or purchase of securities, investments, or investment contracts; f) emergency security procedures; g) student disciplinary cases; h) the placement of individual students in special education programs and other matters relating to individual students; i) pending, probable, or imminent litigation; j) evaluation of attorney; k) approval of certain closed session minutes for distribution to the public; or other matters appropriate for a closed meeting pursuant to the Open Meetings Act. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 ayes 0 nays. M.C.

Motion by Baucom, seconded by Mixer that the board of education go out of closed session. 10:45 p.m. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 ayes 0 nays. M.C.

Motion by Mowen, seconded by Meyer that the board of education approve the personnel report. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 ayes 0 nays. M.C.

Motion by Obert seconded by Baucom that the board of education adjourns. Time: 10:47 p.m. Roll Call Vote: Aye: Baucom, Derhake, Meyer, Mixer, Mowen, Obert and Sims. 7 ayes 0 nays. M.C.
