Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, February 27, 2023 in the Board of Education Office (Room #126) in Augusta, Illinois. John Eilers, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Hitz, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the January 23, 2023 regular meeting and closed session as presented.

Superintendent Fox presented the update on the Board Excellence site including: February Sun of the Month, Elected FCCLA Section 5 Chair, Recommended for State FFA Degree, Advanced to District FFA Interview – Agri-Science Integrated Systems, Advanced to District FFA Interview – Turf Grass Management, Advanced to District FFA Interview – Fiber and Oil Crop Production, Wrestling Regional Tournament 2nd Place, KHQA Student Athlete of the Week, KHQA Super Fan Shootout game MVP, 2nd Place West Prairie 7th Grade Volleyball Tournament, 2nd Place Quincy 7th Grade Volleyball Tournament, 7th Grade Central Volleyball Tournament Champions, Quincy 8th Grade Volleyball Tournament Champions, Central 8th Grade Volleyball Tournament Champions, IHSA 2A Varsity Girls Regional Champions.

Financial

Superintendent Fox presented the monthly financial snapshot showing we are 58% into the fiscal year. We have received 73% of our budgeted revenue and have spent 62% of budgeted expenditures.

Superintendent Fox presented the Financial Profile Score of 4.0 out of 4.0.

On a motion by Member Hitz and a second by Member Kearby, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Superintendent Fox presented the 2022-2023 school calendar.

Superintendent Fox reviewed the 2023 New School Laws.

Superintendent Fox went over the district transportation procedures.

Superintendent Fox reviewed the 2023-2024 open positions.

Superintendent Fox reviewed the 2023-2024 social work services.

Superintendent Fox discussed graduation credits.

Superintendent Fox discussed the remaining ESSER III funds.

Superintendent Fox presented the proposal for the School Resource Officer position.

No Administrative reports were given.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Hitz, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:32 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity; and for collective negotiating matters between the school board and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees; and for the discussion of minutes of meetings lawfully closed under the Open Meetings Act, whether for purposes of school board approval of the minutes or semi-annual review of the minutes as required by the Act.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Kearby, the Board of Education approved the release of the following closed session minutes for public view: August 22, 2022, September 26, 2022, October 24, 2022, November 14, 2022, December 19, 2022, and January 23, 2023.
