Robinson's Six Goals Lift Hawks over PBA

The Hawks played the first match of their five-match spring break road trip against the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic University on Monday (Mar. 13) evening. Quincy got off on the right foot with a 13-12 behind a six goal performance from Danielle Robinson.

QU fell behind after the first minute of play, but responded quickly at the 10 minute mark on Robinson's first goal of the game to draw it 1-1. The Sailfish found the back of the net once again to pull ahead 2-1.

The Hawks scored two goals in eight seconds from Amelia Ham and another from Robinson to make it 3-2 with 1:11 remaining in the first frame. PBA scored a minute later, with 11 seconds left to knot things at 3-3 after the first 15 minutes.

Palm Beach entered the scoring margin first in the second period, scoring a man-up goal at the 11:40 mark to retake the lead 4-3. Three minutes later, Robinson tied the game once again, this time at 4-4.

A yellow card on Bianca Johnson freed up the Sailfish to another man-up score in the frame. Followed by another goal a little over a minute later to move ahead two at 6-4. Amelia Ham added another goal with 14 seconds remaining in the half to draw withing one at 6-5 as the teams went to the locker room.

Robinson got the scoring started in the second half, netting another three minutes into the third to tie it at 6-6. PBA took over the next four and a half minutes, scoring three times to regain the lead 9-6.

Ham answered with a goal at the 3:42 mark of the third to make it 9-7. Palm Beach got it back a minute later to push the lead back to three 10-7. Robinson scored her fifth and sixth goals of the contest at the 46 and 34 second marks, just 12 ticks apart, to pull the Hawks within one 10-9 heading into the final quarter of play.

The Sailfish got on the board first in the fourth quarter, finding the back of the net at 13:15 to stretch the lead to 11-9. Quincy dominated the next 10 minutes, scoring four goals and shutting out their opponents during the run.

Ham scored her third of the game, followed by Sarah Conroy, Ainslie Reynolds, and Mikenna Ham between 13:08 and 3:06 to put the Hawks ahead two scores at 13-11. PBA scratched one more across at the 2:01 mark to draw back within one at 13-12, but couldn't find the equalizer in the last two minutes.

The Hawks will be back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 15) for a 7:00 p.m. (EST) match against the Panther of Florida Tech University in Melbourne, FL. QU plays again on Thursday afternoon in South Euclid, OH at Notre Dame College for a 3:00 p.m. (EST) contest.
