Village of Payson Village Board met Oct. 12.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
Meeting called to order-
Mayor Dever asks for roll call. Those present were: Chris Dever, Roger Sunde, Kristi Shelton, Robert Stock, Gary Epperson, Don Benjamin, Kyle Beckman and Amanda Window. Jason Perry was also in attendance.
Secretary’s Report:
Roger motioned to accept the Secretary’s report from September, Kyle seconded and all were in favor.
Guests/Communication/Recognition:
1. n/a
Maintenance Report:
1.Clean-up on Columbine- Someone has been given the trailer to move. The property itself will remain the Village’s for now.
2.New playground looks great!
Police Report:
1. Nothing new to report, however the board really wants the police to crack down on cleaning up/ mowing properties that are not looking good around town.
Parks Committee:
1.Food truck from Red Light Bar and Grill was out in Payson a couple weeks ago- heard they sold out and it went well. Hope they return- the board thinks this is great to see!
2.The board has asked Jason to get a price/quote for fixing the electric at the bandstand in S. Park.
3.Gary wants to see the sidewalk in front of the town hall replaced- it is cracked and looks bad. Jason said he would need to rent a jackhammer, etc- he will get a price together for the board.
4.Follow up on waterway along west side of S. Park- Jason will get in touch with Darren for a price.
Monthly Bills/Treasurer’s Report and Misc. Financial Reports:
1.Bills for September- Roger motioned to approve expenses, Gary seconded and all were in favor after roll call vote.
2.Audit is wrapping up!
3.Board was notified that Heather at Fleer’s is taking over our account for Dalton.
4.Kristi motions the village pay Becky $15/hour for any additional work she does for the village. Roger seconds and all were in favor.
5.Insurance bill received- if we pay by 11/19, we owe $28,986.73. Roger motions to pay this by the 11/19 date. Rober seconds and all were in favor.
Old Business:
1.Christmas Tree lighting/community event was discussed- OSA will participate and the Fire Dept is discussing it at their meeting later this month. We are looking at the 1st Friday in December, Dec. 3rd- still planning, but hope to have more details soon. Event will include a tree lighting and residents can bring something to add to the tree if they like. Local churches have been contacted about food, caroling, telling of the Christmas story- we are looking at doing games, crafts, etc. Also, a house decorating contest will be back this year- $50 for 1st place and $25 for second. Kyle is working on a mailbox for Santa letters to be housed at the park and lots of other good, fun ideas are being worked on! Sounds like it will be a great event!
