John Wood Community College Board of Trustees Met July 19.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
Curriculum Committee Report
The meeting convened at 2:00 p.m. Present were Dr. Randy Greenwell, trustee; Mr. Mike Elbe, president; Dr. Laurel Klinkenberg, vice president of instruction (via zoom); Ms. Kristina Johnson, note taker (via zoom). Absent, Mr. Andy Sprague, trustee.
• ICCB 5-Year Program Reviews were discussed, which included:
o Social/Behavioral Science Academic Discipline Area
§ This academic discipline enrollment numbers have been impacted as our four-year partner institutions are not requiring History courses to earn a degree.
o Industrial Maintenance
§ This program of study has three certificate programs that are stackable within the parent degree: Electrical, Mechanical, and HVAC Technician.
§ The goal for the WDC Expansion project is to expectantly increase enrollment, with potentially increasing the lab time to accommodate more students.
• Other:
o After further review, Dr. Klinkenberg may propose JWCC Board policy language change from requiring 64 credits needed for a degree to a minimum of 60 credits. This will allow more flexibility for students and comply with as they suggest 60 credit hours for an associate degree.
Meeting adjourned at 2:30pm.
