Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, March 22, 2021 in the Board of Education Office (Room #126) in Augusta, Illinois.

John Eilers, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Bruenger, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the February 22, 2021 regular meeting and closed session.

Public Participation

Special Recognition

Superintendent Fox presented the Board Excellence Awards which included March Sun of the Month, National Honor Society inductees, CyberAmerica Competition National Finalist, 7th grade volleyball regional champions, 7th grade volleyball sectional champions, 8th grade volleyball regional champions, and 8th grade volleyball sectional champions. Superintendent Fox congratulated the teams.

Financial

Superintendent Fox reviewed the monthly financial snapshot which shows we are 67% into the fiscal year. We have received 85% of our budgeted revenue and have spent 59% of our budgeted expenditures.

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Informational Items

Superintendent Fox gave COVID-19 update to the board.

Superintendent Fox discussed with the board the ESSER II grant funds.

Superintendent Fox informed the board of the plans for summer school.

Superintendent Fox updated the board regarding requirements for Parent Choice Remote Learning.

Superintendent Fox informed the board on the COVID-19 symptom update.

Superintendent Fox reported on the P-EBT cards.

Superintendent Fox discussed the plans for Prom/Homecoming/Graduation this year.

Superintendent Fox reviewed the upcoming School Board Election and presented Board Policy 2.70 on filling vacancies.

Superintendent Fox presented the ROE Full Compliance report in which the Regional Office commended the district for its attention and efforts for this year’s compliance visit.

Superintendent Fox presented the prioritized 10-Year Health Life Safety Survey list.

Superintendent Fox reported on the Energy Agreement with Anderson Consultants, Inc. Administrative Reports were given with Mr. Rigg reporting on the updated guidelines for attendance at sporting events.

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Winters, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:33 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity and collective negotiating matters between the school board and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees.

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education accepted the resignation of Debra Hurt in the position of high school math teacher effective at the end of the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year for the purpose of retirement.
