Blessing Health System issued the following announcement on Mar. 31.
After a year of registered nurses answering questions from the public about COVID-19 through its telephone hotline, Blessing Health System is reducing the hours of that service. Effective the weekend of April 3-4, The Blessing Heath System COVID-19 Hotline will no longer operate on the weekends.
When the Blessing Health System COVID-19 Hotline began in March 2020, it received 500-600 calls each weekend. Those numbers dropped to the single digits over the past weekend.
The Blessing Health System COVID-19 Hotline, 217-277-3504, will continue to be staffed by registered nurses from 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
As of April 3, if people call the Blessing Health System COVID-19 Hotline on a weekend they will be informed that they can talk to a registered nurse Monday through Friday. In the meantime, the Hotline will provide the caller with the option to make an appointment at the Blessing Express Clinic at 34th and Broadway for assessment or treatment of respiratory issues, or to go the Walk-In Clinic, no appointment needed, between the hours of 6 am and 10 pm.
