John Wood Community College Board of Trustees Executive Committee met Dec. 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Executive Committee met at 9:00 a.m. in room C252. Attendees were Ms. Diane Ary, Mr. Bob Rhea and Mr. Andy Sprague trustees, via Zoom; Mr. Michael Elbe, president and Ms. Leah Benz, executive assistant, note taker.

December Board Agenda Items included:

Consent items:

Regular Board minutes

Financials, bills

Curriculum items

Grant

Two grant submissions; one to Department of Education for TRIO – Academic Talent Search and one to United Way of Adams County for RSVP

Business items:

Adoption of a Resolution and Certificate relating to levying additional taxes

Adoption of a Resolution and Certificate to levy taxes

Authorization pay the second half of the ICCTA dues for 2020

Authorization to award the copier bid to Watts copy systems for copier service

Authorization to award Keck heating & Air Conditioning VRF Heat Pumps for the WDC

Authorization to reject all request for proposals for the courtyard concrete improvements for the College due to specifications that needed to be corrected

Approval of the renewal consortium agreement between John Wood Community College and Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Health Information Management and Medical Laboratory

Consideration and action on the Vice President for Instructions contract

Consideration and action on an amicable separation request

Discussion items:

Board Election - The committee was updated on the current candidate packets distributed. They include William (LB) Cornwell, Donald Hess, and Paula Hawley. Filing period is December 14 – 21.

Spring Semester Update - Faculty Senate met on Friday, December 4. Discussion was held on the Spring semester. The committee heard that at this time no decision has been made by Administration to modify the spring semester and will proceed with our current plans unless something changes between the end of our fall semester and the start of our spring semester.

United Way Update - The College raised $6,500 for United Way on our internal campaign. A big thank-you to our employees for their generous contributions. No other local educational institution surpassed our contribution.

Renormalization Plan for December 7 – 23 - Administration has updated their renormalization plan to meet with current CDC guidance. Upon official notification from the Adams County Health Department these changes will be shared with all.

Amicable Separation request – Administration received an amicable separation request. The Executive committee recommended to place this request on the December board agenda for consideration and action due to the Board meeting schedule of no regular meeting to be held in January. This item will be deferred to closed session.

Other

President Elbe was asked to provide an athletic report at the December meeting.

The December meeting will be held via all Zoom if possible.
