John Wood Community College Board of Trustees Curriculum Committee met Oct. 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The meeting convened at 2:00 p.m. Present virtually via zoom conference were Mr. Don Hess; trustee, Mr. Mike Elbe; president, Dr. Laurel Klinkenberg; vice president of instruction, and Kristina Johnson; note taker.

New academic courses discussed:

EDU 165 – Curriculum I

On the advice of the Advisory Council, combining Art/Music and Play/Motor to change curriculum to align with our 4-year partners. Combining content areas will facilitate greater enrollment and better serve students.

AGR 184 –

This is an elective course highlighting marketing in the Agriculture discipline.

Course Deletions

NUA 118-

This Health Sciences course will be deleted as content will be covered with new IDPH certificate. The State of Illinois has a standardized curriculum, CNA II (Certified Nursing Assistant II) which will be used.

Health Care Assistant Certificate and Professional Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate

JWCC is adopting the CNA II curriculum, this certification is accepted throughout Illinois.

Other items

Discussed the Fall 2020 enrollment results.

The next Faculty Senate Curriculum meeting will be held October 30th.

Meeting adjourned at 2:30pm.
