Southeastern Community Unit School District # 337 Board of Education met Sept. 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The following minutes are tentative and will not become official minutes of the Board of Education until their scheduled approval at the next regular meeting.

Call to Order and Roll Call

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session in the Board of Education Office (Room #126) in Augusta, Illinois. Steve Bruenger, Board Vice President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education 

Approval of Agenda Items

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the agenda items as presented.

Aye: Bruenger, Holst, O’Neal, Smith, Tippey

Nay: None

Absent: Eilers, Winters

Approval of Minutes

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the August 24, 2020 regular meeting and closed session.

Aye: Holst, O’Neal, Smith, Tippey, Bruenger

Nay: None

Absent: Eilers, Winters

Motion Carried

On a motion by Member Smith and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education opened the public hearing at 6:31 p.m. on the FY2021 Southeastern Community School District #337 budget.

Aye: Holst, O’Neal, Smith, Tippey, Bruenger

Nay: None

Absent: Eilers, Winters

Motion Carried

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education closed the public hearing at 6:54 p.m. on the FY2021 Southeastern Community School District #337 budget.

Nay: None

Absent: Eilers, Winters

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Smith, the Board of Education approved the FY2021 Southeastern Community School District #337 budget as presented.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the FY2020 Annual Financial Report as presented.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Informational Items

Superintendent Fox reviewed school board election 2021.

Superintendent Fox presented COVID-19 update.

Superintendent Fox reviewed the US Cellular hotspots.

Superintendent Fox discussed the Pre-K program.

Superintendent Fox gave update on RIF Joint Committee.

Administrative reports –none at this time.

Action Items

On a motion by Member Smith and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the following board policies (2nd reading): 2:260 Uniform Grievance Procedure, 2:265 Title IX Sexual Harassment Grievance Procedure, 5:10 Equal Employment Opportunity and Minority Recruitment, 5:20 Workplace Harassment Prohibited, 5:100 Staff Development Program, 5:200 Terms and Conditions of Employment and Dismissal, 5:220 Substitute Teachers, 5:330 Sick Days, Vacation, Holidays, and Leaves, 7:10 Equal Educational Opportunities, 7:20 Harassment of Students Prohibited, 7:180 Prevention of and Response to Bullying, Intimidation, and Harassment, 7:185 Teen Dating Violence Prohibited.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Smith, the Board of Education approved the Consolidated District Plan as presented.

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education approved the substitute teacher pay rate from $90 to $100 per day for the 2020-2021 school year.

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Smith, the Board of Education approved the employment of Alexandra Kerr in the position of fill-in teacher for the 2020-2021 school year.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education approved the employment of Christopher Roberts in the position of cook for the 2020-2021 school year.

Motion Carried

On a motion by Member O’Neal and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:54 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity; and student disciplinary cases.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member O’Neal, the Board of Education voted to adjourn the meeting at 8:05 p.m.
