Quincy Republican activist Mecki Kosin fumes that Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s threat to return the state to a more restrictive phase in its COVID-19 reopening strikes many as totally irrational.

“He talks about there being an uptick in the COVD-19 infection rates, but with the state doing more testing you’re going to see that,” Kosin told the Quincy Reporter. “To be talking about another shutdown is a total farce and I think if he tries it, you’re going to see a revolution in the streets, civil unrest not just disobedience, especially when you add in what he’s trying to do with the schools. Right now, I think the governor is just on a power trip in an attempt to show us he has power over all of us.”

Citing rising infection rates that have moved at least 11 counties to “warning levels” for the spread of the virus, Pritzker recently pronounced the state is at a “danger point” for some level of shut-down being reenacted.

Again, Kosin sees it all as just more overkill.

“Even more small businesses will be forced to close and more people and business will look to leave Illinois,” she said. “The way we’ve targeted small businesses it all this has never made sense. How can it be you you’re so at risk by visiting a small business, but big-box operations like Walmart are free to operate as they see fit?”

In the end, Kosin said she sees it all as part of a bigger ploy on the part of Democrats at large.

“It’s all part of the effort to remove President (Donald) Trump,” she said. “You’ve got these blue state governors and mayors willing to blow up the economy to get what they want. It hurts to see they would ruin everything in this country just to get rid of a president they don't like.”
