Adams County Board Public Health & Safety Committee met Feb. 18.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

Overseeing the Sheriff, Emergency Management, Coroner and Animal Control.

Committee members present: Seldon Totsch, Mark Peter, Steve DeMoss and Becky Weed

All bills were reviewed and appeared to be in order.

Our committee approved minutes of January 21, 2020 meeting.

Department / Representatives:

Sheriff Dept. – Brian Vonderhaar

 Jail population was 125 this day.

 Department was back up to full staff but just had 2 more resignations.

 Full Staff is 28 Deputies + 28 Correctional officers + 9-10 Court security.

 Maintenance bills are up on the aging vehicles. We replaced 2 units recently and are approved for 4 more in July.

 The governor has cut $5 Million out of the corrections officer/deputy school training expenses. There will no longer be reimbursements since the funds are not there from traffic citations and fines.

Emergency Management – No Report

Coroner — John Myers

For the Month of January 2020

 There were 91 reported deaths.

 There were a total of two autopsies.

 There were one new unclaimed/indigent cremations.

 There were 44 cremation permits issued.

Our meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday March 17, 2020 at 6:30pm in the Law Library
