Adams County Public Health and Safety Committee met October 22

Adams County Public Health and Safety Committee met Oct. 22.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Overseeing the Sheriff, Emergency Management, Coroner and Animal Control.

Committee members present: Mark Peters, Seldon Totch, Steve Demoss, Robert Reich and Becky Weed

Additional Attendees: Sue Hester-Assistant to County Board and Scot Graham – Chief Deputy Coroner

All bills were reviewed and appeared to be in order.

Our committee approved minutes of September 17, 2019 meeting.

Department / Representatives:

Sheriff Dept – Joe Lohmeyer

• Head Count in the jail is holding steady.PHS

• New Statute – Cat Rabies-Refer to L & J Committee and States Attorney for possible

Ordanence and set tag fees.

Emergency Management – No Report

Coroner — John Myers

For the Month of Septembert 2019

• There were 75 reported deaths.

• There were a total of five autopsies.

• There were no new unclaimed/indigent cremations.

• There were 37 cremation permits issued.

• Therre were an average of 35 crematons permits issued monthly this FY2019.

• Scott met with new funeral home to let them know the indigent policy in Adams County.

• Office had an informative meeting with Blessing Hospital regarding the removeal of deceased from hospital.

• Office presented a Homicide and Questionable Death Protocol to being reviewed by the

State’s Attorney’s office.

Our meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday November 19, 2019 at 7pm in the Law Library
