Local Government

By Press release submission | Sep 28, 2019

Quincy Police Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 26.

On 9/26/19 just before 5:00 pm, Quincy police officers were sent to the 600 block of Sycamore for a shooting incident. An 18 year old male was found suffering from more than one gunshot wound. The male was transported to Blessing Hospital by ambulance where he tragically lost his life. The name of the victim will be released by the coroner’s office at a later time, but the Quincy Police Department does send our condolences to the friends and family of the victim.

At this time, the police department has no reason to believe there is any further danger to the public as this incident does not appear to be a random act. The investigation is considered a homicide investigation and is still a very active investigation. The police department is asking anyone with information about this incident or anything leading up to this incident to please contact the department directly or through Crime Stoppers.
