Q4 2018 Recap: Parolees in Adams County convicted of drug crimes

There were 12 offenders convicted of drug crimes released on parole in Adams County during the fourth quarter of 2018, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Quincy Reporter.

The data shows that 11 men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes was 41. The youngest parolee was a 24-year-old man sentenced in 2018, and the oldest was a 56-year-old man sentenced in 2008.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Gerald C. Schmidt Jr. He was convicted in 2008 when he was 45 years old. He is now 56.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
