Adams County Legislative/Judicial Committee met April 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Attendance:

• Legislative and Judicial Committee

o Present: Ryan Niekamp, Theresa Bockhold, Raquel Piazza, Ryan Hinkamper

• Also Present: Todd Eyler, Aaron Arnold, Todd Nelson, Taylor Rakers, John Myers, Sue Hester

The meeting began at 6:30 p.m.

The committee reviewed and approved the bills from the Circuit Clerk, Juvenile Detention Center, Probation Department, Public Defender, State’s Attorney and the Supervisor of Assessments.

Mr. Niekamp made a motion to approve the February 4, 2019 meeting minutes. Mrs. Bockhold seconded the motion. The minutes were approved.

Mr. Niekamp made a motion to approve the March 5, 2019 meeting minutes. Mrs. Bockhold seconded the motion. The minutes were approved.

Appointments

• Golden Fire Protection District – David B. Gronewald – appointment to a 3 year term expiring in May 2022. Mrs. Bockhold made a motion to approve the appointment. Mr. Niekmap seconded the motion. The appointment was approved.

• Central Fire Protection District – William R. Johnson – appointment to a 3 year term expiring in May 2022. Mrs. Bockhold made a motion to approve the appointment. Mr. Hinkamper seconded the motion. The appointment was approved.

• Clayton Fire Protection District – James H. Gieker – appointment to a 3 year term expiring in May 2022. Mrs. Bockhold made a motion to approve the appointment. Mr. Hinkamper seconded the motion. The appointment was approved.

County Code

• Discussion & Possible Action – Mileage reimbursement County Board Members. Mr. Niekmap made a motion to amend the County Code mileage reimbursement policy for County Board members to reflect mileage only be reimbursed if traveling outside of Adams County. Mr. Hinkamper seconded the motion. A draft of the code changes will be brought to the Maycommittee meeting.

• Discussion & Possible Action - County Code Section 1-13-7 – Vehicle Allowance. No action taken, tabled to May meeting.

• Discussion & Possible Action – County Code Chapter 31 – Indigent Burial Policy. John Myers presented an update to the county code to reflect changes in the indigent burial policy. Mr. Niekamp made a motion to approve the changes. Mr. Hinkamper seconded the motion. The committee will recommend to the changes to the full County Board for approval.

The next meeting of this committee will take place on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
