Adams County Public Health and Safety Committee net September 18

Adams County Public Health and Safety Committee met Sept. 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee

Overseeing the Sheriff, Emergency Management, Coroner and Animal Control.

Committee members present: Seldon Totsch, Marvin Kerkhoff

Robert Reich, and Becky Weed

All bills were reviewed and appeared to be in order.

Department Representatives Present:

Sheriff Dept – Brian Vonderhaar

• Population numbers continue to be a concern. Department is working with States

Attorney’s Office to manage the numbers.

• Still in contract negotiations with QMG but still working together for inmate medical.

• Jail food program is running well.

Emergency Management – No Report

Coroner — John Myers

• There were a total of 68 deaths for the month of August 2018.

• There were a total of six autopsies in the Month of Autust 2018.

• There were NO indigent burials.

• The office is still holding nine unclaimed cremated remains. The ofice spoke with the Sexton at Woodland Cemetery about obtaining a crypt for unclaimed cremated remains. He will speak to his board to see if this could be arranged.

Our committee approved minutes of August, 2018 meeting and special joint meeting with Legislative and Judicial Committee on August 14, 2018.

Our meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday October 16, 2018 at 7pm in the Law Library
