Adams County Public Health & Safety Committee met Aug. 21.
Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:
Overseeing the Sheriff, Emergency Management, Coroner and Animal Control.
Committee members present: Mark Peter, Seldon Totsch, Marvin Kerkhoff Robert Reich, and Becky Weed
Also present: Sue Hester – Assistant to the County Board Raja Maples – KHQA News
All bills were reviewed and appeared to be in order.

Sheriff Dept – Joe Lohmeyer
The medical services contract with Adams/Pike medical has been terminated and the department is currently using the services of Quincy Medical Group. A contract should be finalized this week. – Mark Peter made a motion to refer the contract to the States Attorney’s office for review when received. Bob Reich seconded the motion. The motion passed.
The new food service is using the county’s facilities to prepare food. There have been no issues more serious than a few late meals.
We have received and authorized payment of the last invoice from Adams/Pike Medical and Quincy Senior Citizens Center.
Population continues to follow the trend of the past year’s new normal. Emergency Management – John Simon
Installation of the new radio system is moving along. Radio transfer stations will be locaed at Payson, Liberty, Camp Point, Mendon, Emergency Operations Center, Courthouse, ADM and Hollister Whitney.
The tower is up at the courthouse.
Agreement to terminate Lease agreement with Adams Networks on Tower @ Emergency Operations Center was approved.
A new partner agreement which allows Adams Network to continue to have access to our tower and gives us access to their towers at Mendon and Liberty with no monitary cost to either. -- Mark Peter made a motion to refer the contract to the States Attorney’s office for review when received. Bob Reich seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Coroner — John Myers
Department has released 4 creamains to family members and continues to try to identify families for the remaining creamains.
John Myers suggested that we contact the news to post a list of the decedants, asking families to contact his office.
An Office Assistant has been hired and will be working 5 hours per day / 5 days per week.
The office is working on cleaning up the backlog of files and data entry.
All documents going forward are scanned and the paper copy is destroyed.
This week the office finalized the last of the 17 cases that were open when he took over.
Seldon moved to approved minutes of August, 2018 meeting and special joint meeting with Legislative and Judicial Committee on August 14, 2018. Bob Reich seconded the motion. The motion passed.
