Mendon VFD responds to 24 fires in 2017

Mendon Volunteer Fire Department responded to 28 calls in 2017 - 86.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Mendon included 24 fires - 10 structure fires, four vehicle fires and 10 other fires.

In all, the department saw $464,300 in fire loss - or about $19,346 per fire.

The department also received four false calls.

The Mendon Volunteer Fire Department had an annual budget of $33,422 in 2017.
