John Wood Community College Finance & Audit Committee met Aug. 13.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
The Finance and Audit Committee met on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at John Wood Community College. Present were Larry Fischer; trustee, Josh Welker; interim president/dean of business services & institutional effectiveness, Nora Klingele; director of fiscal services, and Jenny Venvertloh; note taker.
1. Bills for Payment - The bills were reviewed and will be recommended for payment.
2. Overnight Travel Requests – The committee reviewed the out of district travel forms that were submitted and recommended them for approval.
3. Financials – Financials were reviewed and recommended for approval.
4. Board Budget – The Board’s budget was reviewed.
5. Review Investments – The investment report was reviewed.
6. Board Items
• Transfer – The College is requesting a transfer from the operating funds to the auxiliary fund to eliminate deficit fund balances and ensure sufficient funding levels for auxiliary funds including student transportation, athletics, and food service for fiscal year 2026.
• Transfer – The College is requesting a transfer from the operating funds to the restricted purposes fund for Board designated initiatives. The transfer will establish a Board-designated sub-fund in the restricted purposes fund for future Board designated initiatives and purposes to be used in future fiscal years.
• Illinois Valley Paving Lease - Illinois Valley Paving, a division of United Contractors Midwest, Inc., has requested to enter into a lease agreement at the Agricultural Education Center. It is recommended that the Board of Trustees authorize to enter into a thirteen (13) month lease agreement with Illinois Valley Paving beginning September 1, 2025, and terminating on September 30, 2026.
• JWCC solicited request for bids from qualified vendors to provide six (6) each Powerwave 300C Advanced Process welders to be used for dual credit welding classes at the Workforce Development Center. It is requested the Board of Trustees authorize acceptance of the bid and award to SJ Smith Company, in the amount of $82,463.10
7. Other – The land sale was discussed.
