The Illinois Attorney General’s Office has launched a new online reporting system for charitable organizations and trustees. The initiative was led by Senator Jil Tracy through Senate Bill 1599.

“Many charitable organizations operate with limited staff and often struggle to meet filing deadlines, which can lead to costly fines,” said Senator Tracy. “This new electronic filing system provides a faster, more accessible, and reliable way to submit reports on time. It’s a proven approach already in use in other states and represents a natural step forward for Illinois.”

Senator Tracy began the effort to streamline online filing after receiving a request from a constituent. The bill passed unanimously in the Senate in April but did not advance in the House due to concerns about implementation timing.

The Illinois Attorney General’s Office developed the online platform to simplify reporting, reduce administrative burdens, minimize errors, and help nonprofits across Illinois remain compliant with state requirements.

Tracy, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 2023 representing the state's 50th Senate District.
