City of Quincy City Council met July 28.

CONSENT AGENDA

(All items under the Consent Agenda are considered to be routine in nature and will be enacted by one motion. There will be no separate discussions of these items unless a Council Member so requests, in which event, the item will be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered as the first item after approval of the Consent Agenda.)

8. Petitions:

8a. Special Event Application requesting permission to hold the Knights of Columbus BBQ on Friday, August 8th through Sunday, August 10th at 700 South 36th Street. They request “No Parking” signs on Holford Drive, South Holford Drive, West Holford Drive from 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8th through 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10th.

The applicant has submitted all required documentation and approval is recommended by the Department of Utilities & Engineering. Ward 5

8b. By the following organizations requesting permission to conduct a raffle and have the bond requirement waived: Quincy Children’s Museum from now until August 11th; Friends of the Log Cabin from August 2nd to September 13th. The City Clerk recommends approval of the permits.

9. Reports of the Zoning Board of Appeals:

9a. Recommending approval of the variance to allow for the installation of a projecting sign at 501 Hampshire Street more than 15 feet above the street grade. Ward 7

9b. Recommending denial of the variance the zoning code to allow for the construction of an accessory building (shed) that encroaches on the 30-foot front yard setback at 1428 Briar Rose. Wards 1 & 3, outside city limits.

10. Resolutions:

10a. Public Works Director, Engineering Manager, and Central Services Committee recommending approval of the low bid in the amount of $2,375,880.15 from Rees Construction Co. for the Cherry St, North 24th to North 28th Street Project.

10b. Public Works Director and Central Services Committee recommending approval the quote in the amount of $29,326.45 from R.L. Hoener Co. for repairs of a garage vehicle lift.

10c. Airport Director recommending approval of the quote in the amount $7,800 from Peters Heating and Air Conditioning for the leased hangar and offices of Quincy Aviation.

11. Ordinances:

11a. Adoption of an Ordinance entitled:

An Ordinance Granting A Special Use Permit For A Planned Development. (To allow for the use of 906 Lind Street as a counseling center with supervised visitation.) Ward 2

11b. Second presentation of an Ordinance entitled: An Ordinance Amending Section 162.194 (Designation Of Landmarks) Of Chapter 162 (Zoning Regulations) Of Title XV (Land Usage) Of The Municipal Code Of The City Of Quincy Of 2015. (1515 Jersey) Ward 4

11c. First presentation of an Ordinance entitled: An Ordinance Amending Title VII (Traffic Code) Of Chapter 82 (Parking Schedule) Of The Municipal Code Of The City Of Quincy Of 2015) (Remove 2-hour parking on the north side of Maine Street from N. 28th Street to N. 30th Street.) Ward 3

11d. First presentation of an Ordinance entitled: An Ordinance Granting A Variation From Zoning Regulations. (501 Hampshire, Allow the installation of a projecting sign that is higher than 15 feet above the street grade.) Ward 7
