Mary Miller, representative for Illinois' 15th Congressional District, expressed her views on leadership in America, stating that the current leader strongly supports women and girls. She contrasted this with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, whom she accused of prioritizing transgender issues.
"America finally has a leader who stands strong for women and girls," said Mary E. Miller, U.S. Representative of Illinois's 15th congressional district (R), according to Facebook. "President Trump is taking action to stop radical governors from forcing females to compete with males — it's illegal, unfair, and it MUST END now. Trans-obsessed JB Pritzker is doing the exact same thing!!"
Miller shared a post from former President Donald Trump on X, criticizing California's policy allowing transgender female athletes to compete in women's sports. Trump claimed that a transgender athlete had "won everything" at a major event and was set to compete in the state finals. He described the athlete as "a less than average competitor" as a male but now "practically unbeatable," calling the situation "not fair and totally demeaning to women and girls." Trump warned that federal funding could be withheld if California does not comply with his executive order titled Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Trump's post seemed to reference A.B. Hernandez, a Jurupa Valley High School junior who recently won the girls’ long jump and triple jump at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Masters Meet. The CIF oversees high school sports in California and recently announced a new process to expand participation in the State Track and Field Championships. Hernandez has faced protests at track meets in recent weeks.
On May 27, according to KCRA, CIF announced a new entry process for the State Track and Field Championships. "Under this pilot entry process," CIF said, "any biological female student-athlete who would have earned the next qualifying mark for one of their section’s automatic qualifying entries in the CIF State Meet, and did not achieve the CIF State at-large mark in the finals at their section meet, was extended an opportunity to participate in the 2025 CIF State Track and Field Championships." The organization emphasized that this pilot entry process aims to provide participation opportunities for student-athletes.
