Mary Miller, representative for Illinois' 15th Congressional District, has called for the complete removal of the COVID-19 vaccine from the recommended immunization schedule. She highlighted its recent exclusion for children and pregnant women.
"Finally," said Mary E. Miller, U.S. Representative of Illinois's 15th congressional district (R). "Fauci's experimental COVID vaccine has been removed from the recommended immunization schedule for children and pregnant mothers. Thank you, Secretary Kennedy, for taking this important and necessary step towards Making America Healthy Again. Now let's remove it entirely."
In a post on X, Miller shared a video from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services featuring HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, and FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary. According to these officials, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) would no longer recommend COVID-19 vaccine boosters for healthy children and pregnant women due to insufficient evidence supporting their necessity. They also noted that most countries have ceased recommending boosters for children.

NPR reported that this decision was made without input from the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices or other independent advisors. The CDC committee was not scheduled to meet on COVID-19 vaccination recommendations until later this month. A week earlier, the Trump administration announced it would require additional testing for COVID-19 vaccines to be approved for use by individuals under 65 without health conditions that increase their risk of infection.
This decision contrasts with information on the CDC's website as of May 27, which recommends the 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine for everyone aged six months and older—especially those aged 65 or older, at high risk for severe COVID-19, or who have never been vaccinated. The CDC endorses the 2024-2025 Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines for individuals six months and older, and the 2024-2025 Novavax vaccine for those over 12.
