Payson Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met March 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

Denise Albsmeyer called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Roll was taken with the following members present: Denise Albsmeyer, Keith Barry, Russ Board, and Danelle Donley. Cory Hagerbaumer, Trista Neisen and Lisa Schwartz were absent.

Also present were Donna Veile, Julie Molidor, Lucas Ayers and Nancy Cromie.

VISITORS

Alexis Allen, Diane Germann, Karrie Wolf, Blake Wolf, Nick Holtschlag, Clint Twaddle, Gary Hagerbaumer, Andrew Bauer

PUBLIC

Alexis Allen talked about the need for trauma informed training and constitutional rights education.Clint Twaddle talked about the accomplishments of the trap shooting team.Gary Hagerbaumer shared some humor and talked about the dismantling of the Department of Education.

Hagerbaumer entered at 7:05 p.m.

TECHNOLOGY REPORT

Lucas Ayers shared a report on the variety of technical support requests received over the last month.

AD REPORT

Lauren Bentzinger submitted a report on the status of current sports.

CONSENT AGENDA

Donley made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Barry seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, and Hagerbaumer NAY: None

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Donna Veile gave an update on legislative issues and the HS kitchen project. Staff were given their SB7 letters for verification. The full ROE compliance is complete. The new activity bus has been outfitted with graphics. The April board meeting is on the 16th, due to Easter Break.

IHSA RENEWAL FOR 2025-26

Barry made a motion to approve the IHSA renewal for 2025-26. Hagerbaumer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, and Hagerbaumer Nay: None

NON-CERTIFIED STAFF YEARS OF SERVICE

Albsmeyer made a motion to approve the non-certified staff years of service list. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, and Hagerbaumer NAY: None

ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL REPORT

Julie Molidor talked about students using their Tribe time to write Thank You notes and signs for community volunteers and the important people in their lives. At the March 7 training, staff were provided insights on neuroscience. A fourth grade curriculum slide show was presented.

SECONDARY PRINCIPAL REPORT

Greg Buescher talked about the Science Olympiad competition and FFA activities. A slide show was presented.

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION

Barry made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, administrator contracts, student matters, and other items appropriate for closed session. Board seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, and Hagerbaumer NAY: NoneMoved into closed session at 7:28 p.m.

Schwartz entered at 7:28 p.m.

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION

Barry made a motion to return to open session. Hagerbaumer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, and Schwartz NAY: NoneReturned to open session at 9:25 p.m.

PERSONNEL ADDENDUM

Donley made a motion to approve the personnel addendum. Hagerbaumer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, and Schwartz NAY: None

RESOLUTION-CG

Barry made a motion to approve the resolution regarding the non-renewal of Cathy Gooding as a professional licensed teacher. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, and Schwartz NAY: None

RESOLUTION-JH

Donley made a motion to approve the resolution regarding the non-renewal of Julie Hooper as a professional licensed teacher. Barry seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, and Schwartz NAY: None

ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL CONTRACT EXTENSION

Schwartz made a motion to approve the extension of Julie Molidor’s contract. Hagerbaumer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Donley, Hagerbaumer, and Schwartz NAY: Board
