Call to Order and Roll Call 

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 in the Board of Education Office in Augusta, Illinois. Mark Hitz, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the January 22, 2025 board meeting.

Special Recognition 

Principal Kerr presented the Board Excellence Awards: February Sun of the Month, Culver Stockton Science Fair Ratings and Awards, Junior High Science Club Culver Stockton Science Fair Outstanding Chapter, Regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium Participant, Hancock County Bicentennial Seal Designing Contest Winners for 7th grade and 8th grade, Hancock County Bicentennial Essay Competition Winner, 8th Grade Boys Basketball IESA 1A Regional Champions, IESA 1A Sectional Champions, IESA 1A 4th Place in State, IESA Sportsmanship Award Recipient, 7th Grade Volleyball West Prairie Tournament Champions, 8th Grade Volleyball Central Tournament 2nd Place, IESA 1A Wrestling Regional 3rd Place Advanced to Sectionals, CSE High School Girls Basketball IHSA 2A Regional Champions.

Financial 

Superintendent Lantz reviewed the monthly financial snapshot which shows we are 58% into the fiscal year. We have received 93% of our budgeted revenue and have spent 57% of our budgeted expenditures.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Superintendent Lantz reviewed a Tuition Waiver Request.

Superintendent Lantz discussed the School Resource Officer.

Superintendent Lantz reviewed the 2024-2025 School Calendar.

No Administrative reports were given.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 6:51 p.m. for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity, and discussion of minutes of

lawfully closed under the Open Meetings Act, whether for purposes of school board approval of the minutes or semi-annual review of the minutes as required by the Act.

Action Items 

On a motion by Member Bunnell and a second by Member Stevens, the Board of Education approved the deposit account agreement and investment agreement with Bowen Bank of Advance effective February 1, 2025 through January 31, 2026.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Stephens, the Board of Education approved the 2025 high school graduation date for Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Southeastern Jr/Sr High School at 2:00 p.m.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education accepted the resignation of Lisa Kelly in the position of kindergarten teacher for the purpose of retirement effective at the end of the 2027-2028 school year.
