FOIA Request to Adams County Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Quincy Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Adams County Election Division in Illinois.
The request, sent on February 5, 2025, asks for a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. We have requested detailed information about each candidate including their first, middle and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation; and contact information such as address, phone number and email address.
As a media organization, we believe access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
Our aim is to ensure that our readers are well-informed about their choices in the upcoming elections. We will continue to work diligently in gathering and reporting news to keep the public informed about local governmental affairs.
