State Senator Jil Tracy | Illinois General Assembly
State Senator Jil Tracy is encouraging residents of the 50th District to participate in an initiative aimed at brightening the days of those living in long-term care facilities. For the fifth consecutive year, Sen. Tracy is spearheading the "Valentines for Seniors Card Drive," a program that invites community members to create and send Valentine's Day cards to local seniors.
"This will be our fifth year delivering Valentines on the communities’ behalf as part of our annual Valentines for Seniors Card Drive. Making and sending beautiful Valentine’s Day cards reminds our senior citizens how many people truly care about them," Sen. Tracy stated. "Receiving your cards has brought much joy and many smiles to the residents of local long-term care facilities."
The initiative calls upon individuals, churches, schools, and various groups to contribute by crafting or sending Valentine's Day cards to Sen. Tracy's district offices located in Quincy and Jacksonville. The collected cards will then be distributed by her district staff to residents in long-term care facilities within the 50th District.
Valentine's Day cards are being accepted until February 7. Participants can either mail their contributions or deliver them in person to Sen. Tracy’s offices at 3601 East Lake Centre Dr., Suite 200, Quincy, IL 62305 (217-223-0833); and 325 W. State St., Suite 102, Jacksonville, IL 62650 (217-408-1258). For more information or to express interest in participating, contact Michaelene Oldenettel at moldenettel@sgop.ilga.gov.
In the previous year, members of the Senate Republican Caucus successfully gathered and delivered a total of 58,615 Valentine's statewide through this card drive.
