John Wood Community College Finance & Audit Committee met Dec. 11.

The Finance Committee met on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at John Wood Community College. Present were Larry Fischer; trustee, Josh Welker; dean of business services & institutional effectiveness, Dr. Bryan Renfro; president, and Nora Klingele, director of fiscal services, and Jenny Venvertloh; note taker.
• Bills for Payment - The bills were reviewed and will be recommended for payment.
• Approval of Travel Requests – The committee reviewed the overnight travel forms that were submitted and recommended them for approval.
• Financials - The financials were reviewed and will be recommended for approval.
• Board Budget – The Board budget was reviewed.
• Review & Discuss Investments - The investment report was reviewed.
• Board Items
o Tax Levy – Resolutions and Certificates will be presented regarding the tax levy. The estimated tax rate is $0.40220 per $100 EAV which is lower than the 2023 rate of $0.41457 per $100 EAV.
o LED Lighting Bids – Bids were received for a LED lighting conversion project. It is recommended to accept the bid and award to STL LED, LLC in the amount of $76,308.44.
o Laptop Rental Fee – Beginning with the Spring 2025 semester, the College will begin renting laptops to students to increase access to students who do not possess the technology needed to access course materials off campus. It is recommended to approve a laptop rental fee in the range of $75-100/credit hour.
