State Senator Jil Tracy is calling on local residents to participate in a tribute to veterans at the Illinois State Capitol. With Veterans Day on November 11, Tracy is asking families and friends to submit stories and photographs of veterans for a memorial display.
The Illinois Senate Republican Caucus will host its annual Veterans Day Wall of Honor from November 11 to November 25. The event will feature an electronic display showcasing veterans' stories and a wall where visitors can leave messages of gratitude.
“We are seeking the stories of veterans to showcase at the State Capitol as a tribute to their legacies and their sacrifices,” said Sen. Tracy. “We are honoring the brave men and women who served our nation.”
Participants are encouraged to provide a photo and a story of up to 250 words, including details such as the veteran's name, military branch, and conflict served. Military photos are preferred but not mandatory.
Submissions should be sent via email to veteransday@sgop.ilga.gov by November 8 or mailed to Veterans Day Wall, 110 D Statehouse, Springfield, IL 62706. Inquiries can be directed to (217) 782-1154.
