Call to Order and Roll Call 

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 in the Board of Education Office in Augusta, Illinois. Mark Hitz, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

Approval of Minutes 

On a motion by Member Bunnell and a second by Member Stevens, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the August 21, 2024 regular meeting and closed session.

FY25 Budget Hearing 

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education opened the public hearing at 6:31 p.m. on the FY 2025 budget as presented.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Henry, the Board of Education closed the public hearing at 6:36 p.m. on the FY 2025 budget as presented.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved the fiscal year 2025 budget as presented.

E-Learning Day Plan Hearing 

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education opened the public hearing at 6:37 p.m. on the E-Learning Day Plan as presented.

Nay: None

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Stevens, the Board of Education closed the public hearing at 6:38 p.m. on the E-Learning Day Plan as presented.

Special Recognition 

Tim Kerr presented the Board Excellence Awards: New Berlin All-Tournament Volleyball Team, Lady Suns Classic All-Tournament Volleyball Team-MVP, Lady Suns Classic All Tournament Volleyball Team, Beardstown JV Tournament All-Tournament Volleyball Team, Junior High Baseball Suns Tournament Champions, Beardstown Volleyball Tournament Champions, New Berlin Volleyball Tournament 3rd Place, Lady Suns Classic Tournament Champions, Coach Tim Kerr 700th Career Win.

Financial 

On a motion by Member Bunnell and a second by Member Henry, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Informational Items 

Superintendent Lantz reviewed the upcoming board election in April 2025. Superintendent Lantz discussed the metal detectors recently installed in the district. No Administrative reports were given.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 6:58 p.m. for student disciplinary cases.

The Board of Education returned to Open Session at 7:21 p.m.

Action Items 

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved the following board policies as presented: 2:260 Uniform Grievance Procedure, 2:265 Title IX Grievance Procedure, 5:100 Staff Development Program, 7:20 Harassment of Students Prohibited, 7:185 Teen Dating Violence Prohibited.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Tippey, the Board of Education accepted the resignation of Donna Pflum in the position of junior/senior high school cook effective September 20, 2024.
