John Wood Community College Executive Committee met June 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Executive Committee met on June 13, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. in room C252 Student Administrative Center, president’s area. Mr. Bob Rhea and Mr. Andy Sprague; trustees participated via Zoom. Ms. Paula Hawley trustee was absent. Dr. Bryan Renfro, president, and Ms. Leah Benz, executive assistant, note taker participated in person.

June Board of Trustees Board agenda was reviewed:

Business Agenda items included:

• Approval of Fiscal Year 2025 tentative budget resolution

• Adoption of the School Treasurer’s Bond with THE HARTFORD through the Illinois Community College Risk Management Consortium Bonding - 9 million

• Approval of student account Write Offs RE: $12,763

• Approval to renew the United Way partner agreement for FY2025

Consent Agenda items included:

• May Regular meeting minutes; retreat meeting minutes

Grant Agenda items included:

• Acceptance of grant funds from United Way of Adams County for RSVP Support Grant – Amount $5,000

• Acceptance of grant funds from Illinois Community College Board for Trades School Grant ROUND #2 $278,511

Personnel/Closed Session Items

The committee heard a new Chief of Human Resources was hired, Ms. Amy Baker.

Discussion items

Equity Plan - The submitted JWCC Equity Plan was submitted by the May 31, 2024, deadline to the state as required. A copy of the plan was shared with the committee members. It was also noted to be shared with all Board members. Upon review the document will be placed on the agenda for adoption.

• TIF Extension of Pittsfield Tax Increment Financing District – Dr. Renfro reported the mayor of the City of Pittsfield sent correspondence to the College requesting a letter of support from the John Wood Community College Board of Trustees to C. D. Davidsmeyer and State Senator Jil Tracy on extending the life of the TIF District for a twelve (12) year legislative extension which would end with tax year 2043 for taxes paid and received by the City in 2044. The Executive Committee recommendation to the Board of Trustees is to submit correspondence as requested.

• FYI - The Leadership Team will be having their retreat on June 27-28 at Sprague’s Kinderhook Lodge.
