Payson Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met April 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

Lisa Schwartz called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Nancy Cromie, district secretary, called roll with the following members present: Denise Albsmeyer, Keith Barry, Russ Board, Danelle Donley, Cory Hagerbaumer, Trista Neisen and Lisa Schwartz.

Also present were Donna Veile, Julie Phelan, Greg Buescher, Barb Speckhart and Nancy Cromie.

VISITORS

Diane Germann, Tahnee Bauer

TECHNOLOGY REPORT

Barb Speckhart talked about evaluating security cameras and creating automatic parent notifications for missing assignments.

AD REPORT

Don Miller submitted an update on sports that are currently in season.

CONSENT AGENDA

Neisen made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Donley seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Donna Veile talked about the HS sound system, JH roof and the GS bathroom project. Bids will be sought for elementary milk and hot lunch products for 2024-25. Statements of Economic Interest were filled out. Donley and Neisen volunteered to hand out diplomas at graduation.

FINAL 2023-24 CALENDAR

Barry made a motion to approve the final 2023-24 calendar, with the last day as May 24. Albsmeyer seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL REPORT

Julie Phelan talked about the upcoming PreK Screening and Kindergarten Round Up. Celebration Day will be May 23 at Scottie’s Fun Spot. IAR testing for 3rd-6th grade is almost complete. A slideshow on 3rd grade curriculum was presented.

SECONDARY PRINCIPAL REPORT

Greg Buescher talked about several test dates at the JH/HS. Prom will be April 27. The band concert will be on April 25 and the NHS ceremony will be April 24. A slideshow of student activities was presented.

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION

Barry made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, and other items appropriate for closed session. Neisen seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Hagerbaumer, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

Entered into closed session at 8:08 p.m.

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION

Barry made a motion to return to open session. Neisen seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

Returned to open session at 8:45 p.m.

PERSONNEL ADDENDUM

Albsmeyer made a motion to approve the personnel addendum. Barry seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None

ADDITIONAL ITEMS

There was discussion on the weight room, graduation caps and a bus incident.

ADJOURNMENT

Hagerbaumer made a motion to adjourn. Neisen seconded the motion. AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz NAY: None
