2. Follow-Ups

a. Orton Gillingham – How to move forward

i. Still a concern. Is this the best strategy? We know we want to continue with OG-based, but may lean more towards Wilson/Letters. When do we offer this training? How does it fit in with our current curriculum?

b. New curriculums in place for 2024-2025

i. Spanish 1, 2, 3 (McGraw Hill)

ii. Civics & Government (McGraw Hill)

iii. AP Biology- Mader Biology (McGraw Hill) *tentative

iv. AP Chemistry – Tro; Chemistry; Molecular Approach (Savvas) *tentative

c. Science for CES

i. Daily Science- This would be a start for 1st and 2nd grade. The same company offers a Social Studies book that we could look at in the future.

3. Proud to be a Panther – things we are proud of in our curriculum/building

a. CES- K - students are growing with their sight words and their writing. 1st – excited about using food with spelling 2nd – excited about money, which they learned about in math

b. CMS- Sharing strategies with one another in staff meetings; teaching each other and paras how create independent learners

c. CJHS- IXL using questions similar to IAR questions, IAR testing was pushed back to allow for more time to prepare kids, really like the US History Curriculum w/electronic copy of the constitution

d. CHS- Variety of science classes offered to CHS students, moving towards AP sciences classes 14 signed up for AP Bio, 7 signed up for AP Chem, a variety of lab experience opportunities are offered, English 1 curriculum provides good interaction with/among students

4. Non-Negotiables

a. CES- When we start Daily Science in 1st/2nd grade, will it be for a grade? Does something have to come out of the day to fit that in. It sounds like it will accompany current science lessons nicely.

b. CMS- Social Studies mostly comes from Scholastic News; how do we want to look at that moving forward?

c. CJHS- Freckle (7th Math) is great; we need to keep it, Writing Curriculum 6th grade Race, good prep for IAR; do they want more for writing?

d. CHS- AP books ordered and curriculum approved, reorganize English IV curriculum with supplies and resources currently using.

5. Next Meeting- TBA September 2024
