City of Quincy Utilities Committee met March 7.

The monthly meeting of the Utilities Committee was held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Quincy City Hall. Members present were Dave Bauer, Glen Ebbing, Ken Hultz, and Dan Cook. Director of Public Works Jeffrey Conte, Assistant Corporation Counsel Bruce Alford, Director of Administrative Services Jeff Mays, Dustin Neese, and Theresa Alford were also present. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
Dan Cook, seconded by Alderman Ebbing, moved that the minutes from the February 8, 2024, meeting be approved as distributed.

No one present for comment.
Utility Fund Financial Update
Conte presented the financials. Both funds have seen an increase in sales in fiscal year 2024. Operating expenses are near or slightly under budget. The water reserve fund balance is $3.67 million, and the sewer reserve fund balance is $3.40 million.
Old Business
Screw Pump Replacement Bearings
The upper bearings for wet weather screw pumps 1 and 3 are damaged, rendering the pumps inoperable. The Department recommends the purchase of one (1) upper bearing, one (1) lower bearing, and two (2) shaft couplings at the cost of $105,925.00.
Action: Send to City Council with Committee recommendation.

WTP Pump Station Engineering Services
Table for one (1) month.
Hach Equipment Service Contract
The City received a quote in the amount of $19,617 from Hach for the annual onsite maintenance, calibration, and certification of analytical equipment at the Water Treatment Plant.
Action: Send to City Council with Committee recommendation.

Late Additions
Chemical Purchase
The Department requested bids for the purchase of approximately twenty-four (24) tons of Monosodium Phosphate for the treatment of drinking water. Six (6) bids were received, and the low bid is from Water Solutions at the cost of $3,100 per ton.
Action: Send to City Council with Committee recommendation.

High Service Pump 14 Seal Replacement
The seal on high service pump 14 at the Water Treatment Plant failed and requires immediate replacement. The Department has received a quote from Power Process Equipment in the amount of $7,542.00 for the purchase of a seal assembly.

Waste Water Treatment Plant Report
Dustin Neese presented the monthly report of the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
