The bill aims to close a loophole that has allowed individuals like former Speaker Mike Madigan to use campaign funds for legal fees related to federal charges.

The Truth in Public Safety (TIPS) Working Group introduced legislation to enhance public safety in response to the recent passage of the SAFE-T Act.
