Adams County Board Public Health & Safety Committee met Dec. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The meeting was called to order at 5:35 PM.

There was no speaker.

The bills were reviewed and appeared to be in order.

A motion to approve the minutes of the November 14, 2023, meeting was made by Mark Sorensen and seconded by Mark Dietrich, motion carried.

Department Reports

Emergency Management/Ambulance-Director John Simon

Director Simon reported that there will be a new First Responder/Emergency Medical Response Course to begin in February. It will run through April.

They are performing Active Shooter Training with the Rescue Task Force and plan to team up Emergency Services Personnel with QPD Officers and train together for active shooter situations.

The RMS (Record Management System) and CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) Systems at the 911 Center are going to require complete replacement since the current vendor is going out of business effective December 31, 2024.

Fortunately, they had already been looking into new systems.

Sheriff – Sheriff Tony Grootens

2 Departures: DiJohn Knuffman-Jail

Tina Melton-Sheriff’s Office

Average Jail Population was 102.

Impound Lot: Continued to January Meeting

County Code Change: Sheriff’s Ranks-This was not discussed as it is not on the agenda for the full County Board this month. It only affects three officers.

They are all in agreement with the changes. The Committee was given a copy of the proposed resolution for review.

Appointments

Sheriff Merit Commission Appointment – John Summers for a six-year term to begin December 31, 2023 and go through December 31, 2029. The Committee concurred with the appointment and will pass the recommendation to the County Board.

Executive Session: None

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2023, at 5:30 PM in the ROE Conference Room.
