CALL TO ORDER

Lisa Schwartz called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Nancy Cromie, district secretary, called roll with the following members present: Denise Albsmeyer, Keith Barry, Russ Board, Danelle Donley, Corey Hagerbaumer, Trista Neisen and Lisa Schwartz.

Also present were Donna Veile, Greg Buescher, Julie Phelan, Barb Speckhart, Don Miller and Nancy Cromie.

VISITORS

Diane Germann, Chanse Barker, Lucas Brass, Kevin Heid

PUBLIC

Kevin Heid, from Stifel Financial, gave an explanation of the proposed County Facility Sales Tax.

Chanse Barker addressed the board regarding the renewal of the bus lease and other transportation needs.

Lucas Brass, representing the Athletic Club, gave an update on the projects they have been working on. Quarter Mania will be February 10 at The Armory.

AD REPORT

Don Miller gave a report on the status of current sports teams.

TECHNOLOGY REPORT

Barb Speckhart talked about chromebook repairs and is currently working on the eRate application for next year.

CONSENT AGENDA

Barry made a motion to approve the amended consent agenda. Hagerbaumer seconded the motion.

2023 TAX LEVY

Barry made a motion to open the 2023 tax levy hearing. Donley seconded the motion.

There was no public comment.

Donley made a motion to close the 2023 tax levy hearing. Neisen seconded the motion.

Neisen made a motion to approve the 2023 tax levy. Donley seconded the motion.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Donna Veile shared an update on the weight room and equipment purchased through grants. She also gave an update from the insurance co-op meeting. The annual 5 Essentials Survey will be open January 23-March 31.

FIRST READING OF IASB POLICIES

Albsmeyer made a motion to approve the first reading of IASB policies as listed on the agenda. Neisen seconded the motion.

AYE: Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Holtschlag, Neisen and Schwartz

NAY: None

BUS LEASE RENEWAL

Donley made a motion to approve the bus lease renewal with Central State Bus. Barry seconded the motion.

NAY: None

BLESSING-RIEMAN COLLEGE OF NURSING-DUAL CREDIT PROVIDER

Albsmeyer made a motion to approve Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing as an approved dual credit provider. Barry seconded the motion.

NAY: None

ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL REPORT

Julie Phelan spoke on the increasing needs of students beyond academics. Organizations have given donations to help with those needs. December has been filled with fun dress up days with participation from both staff and students. Santa visited on December 19. TRIBES participated in Minute To Win It contests. The winter concert had a wonderful turn out. A slideshow of 4th grade and PreK activities was shared.

SECONDARY PRINCIPAL REPORT

Greg Buescher talked about events at the school including Winter Ball. Student Council held its annual food drive and collected over 600 items for the local pantry. Jostens delivered class rings on December 6. December 15 was a busy day as they held their all school picnic and had many activities to choose from. The Spanish Club had a Christmas party and the night ended with the winter band concert. A slideshow of Ag/FFA, STEM, and JH classes was presented.

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION

Barry made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, and other items appropriate for closed session. Neisen seconded the motion.

NAY: None

Entered into closed session at 8:43 p.m.

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION

Neisen made a motion to return to open session. Donley seconded the motion.

NAY: None

Returned to open session at 9:25 p.m.

ADDITIONAL ITEMS

There was a brief discussion on transportation for a basketball tournament.

Schwartz made a motion to adjourn. Neisen seconded the motion.
