2021 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Adams County?

There were 82 offenders released on parole during 2021 that live in Adams County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Quincy Reporter.

The data shows 65 men and 17 women were released in Adams County. Of the parolees, two were veterans, and the median age was 36. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2020, and the oldest was a 69-year-old man convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2011.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Gary L. Barnes. He was convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2011 when he was 57 years old. He is now 69.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
