Quincy Beat Truman State on Senior Day
The Quincy University Men's Basketball team hosted the Truman State Bulldogs on Saturday (Feb 18). Quincy would end up winning this game 83-75 on Senior Day.
Quincy started the game off hot and an 18-3 run would give them a 24-10 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Malik Hardmon had 9 of QU's 18 points in this run. The Bulldogs would go on a little run of their own late in the half as they would cut the Hawks lead to 36-31 to end the half.
The Hawks defense would hold Truman State to only a 37.04% field goal percentage in the first half, while causing them to turn the ball over 7 times.
QU would score the first points in the second half off a Jamaurie Coakley layup. Truman State would cut the deficit all the way down to 2 points several times throughout the half but Quincy would not give up the lead for the remainder of the game, and would win 83-75.
Quincy University shot 58.08% from the field in the second half, and they went 9-11 (81.82%) from the free-throw line. The Hawks also had three players with double digit points as Malik Hardmon led the way with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Jamaurie Coakley would finish with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Gustafson Solomon would finish with 10 points respectively.
The Hawks will travel to Bolivar, MO on Thursday February 23rd to play against Southwest Baptists University. Tip off will be at 7:00 pm.
